Aimee Lou Wood has spoken out against SNL for mocking her in a sketch, calling the parody “mean and unfunny.”

The White Lotus star took issue with how the sketch exaggerated her teeth using prosthetics and awkward dialogue.

In the segment, SNL portrayed her character with a fake accent and lines like “Fluoride? What’s that?”

Wood said she’s fine being made fun of, but only when it’s done with cleverness and in good spirits.

She argued that the sketch “punched down” and singled her out, while the rest of it mocked people in power.

The actress noted that “I have big gap teeth, not bad teeth,” and felt the joke reduced her to a tired stereotype.

Though she praised Sarah Sherman’s performance overall, Wood criticized the concept and exaggerated features.

She’s received thousands of supportive messages from fans agreeing with her call for smarter, less harmful humor.

Wood also pointed out a double standard, questioning if a male actor would be mocked this way for his appearance.

With SNL reportedly offering an apology, Wood is glad she spoke up—and hopes for more thoughtful comedy in the future.
