Elvis Presley, famously known as the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, broke onto the music scene in the mid-1950s and quickly became one of the most influential artists of all time. He scored his first major hit with Heartbreak Hotel after signing with RCA Records, launching a career that would reshape popular music. Elvis went on to record countless chart-topping songs — both originals and covers — including ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘Hound Dog’, ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’, ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and ‘Love Me Tender.’ His impact and sales have made him the best-selling solo music artist in history.
In addition to his music career, Elvis also found success in Hollywood, starring in dozens of films that often coincided with his musical releases. Some of his most well-known movies include Jailhouse Rock, Blue Hawaii, and Girls! Girls! Girls!. While critics were mixed on his acting projects, many of the films became fan favorites and commercial hits.
Although he was linked to several women over the years, Elvis was married only once — to Priscilla Presley — whom he wed in 1967. The couple welcomed their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, in 1968 before divorcing in 1973. Lisa Marie later became a mother of four, including actress Riley Keough. Her son Benjamin Keough died in July 2020, and she also shared twin daughters. Lisa Marie herself died in January 2023, and she is buried at Graceland alongside her son.
