Mike Jeffries was the CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch from 1992 to 2014. Though he’s credited as the main reason for the brand’s success, he also sparked controversy for engineering the company’s former all-white marketing image. As a result, A&F experienced a decrease in sales until Jeffries’ departure. Years after doubling down on A&F’s past “good-looking” kid image from the early 2000s, Jeffries stayed out of the spotlight. He remained married to his wife, Susan, but reportedly lived separately from her and their son and lived with his partner, Matthew Smith.
In late 2023, Jeffries was accused of leading a sex trafficking operation while he was the company’s CEO. In October 2024, the businessman was formally indicted on multiple charges related to sex trafficking and prostitution.
