UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – U.N. Secretary-Normal Antonio Guterres on Monday urged Israel to halt and reverse what he described as troubling and alarming choices on settlement exercise within the occupied West Financial institution, a U.N. spokesperson mentioned.
“The Secretary-Normal reiterates that settlements are a flagrant violation of worldwide regulation. They’re a significant impediment to the belief of a viable two-State resolution and a simply, lasting and complete peace,” deputy U.N. spokesperson Farhan Haq mentioned in a press release.
“The growth of those unlawful settlements is a major driver of tensions and violence and deepens humanitarian wants,” Haq mentioned.
