San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray is among the most intriguing names within NBA trade rumors, with the free agency due to begin this week.

Murray is only 25 years old and is coming off his best season for the Spurs since being selected as the 1st pick of the year in 2016.

He almost averaged three points with 21.1 points and 9.2 assists and 8.3 rebounding per game during the season.

The trade of Murray does not make a whole lot worth of sense to The Spurs unless they need to go through a complete rebuild, which includes a number of first-rounders.

It's a team-friendly agreement that has a cap on his salary of $16.5 million in the coming season as well as $17.7 million between 2023 and 2023-24 according to Spotrac.

The possibility of acquiring an emerging star with two years remaining on his contract for affordable prices is quite appealing.

But that giving up multiple first-round selections and swaps with no or little security -- remains an enormous risk.
