The comedian Chris Rock has directly addressed actor Will Smith's heartfelt apology video that was uploaded to YouTube in July. Chris Rock has called it"hostage video" "hostage video".

Rock rocked the stage at London's O2 Arena last Saturday (Sept 3) along with comedy partner Dave Chappelle as part of their European stand-up tour.

According to a report by the entertainment site Deadline, Rock referred to Smith's role as the legendary boxer

Muhammad Ali in the 2001 film Ali and stated: "Yes, that is the way to go. Smith played Ali. I'm not even able to be Floyd Mayweather."

At the Oscars in March which was telecast live on the internet, Smith was 53 and was to the stage and struck Rock, who was 57.

The incident occurred following a joke that Rock laughed about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith 50, who suffers from hair loss and appeared sporting hair that was shaved.

Smith has since resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Smith has been barred from its events for the past 10 years and had his reputation taken an unexpected tumble.

In the apology taped over six minutes that went to the internet, he addressed himself direct to camera,

and appeared to be battling tears when he stated he was willing to talk to Rock whenever the time came.

Rock has previously been known to compare Smith with former Death Row Records music executive Suge Knight 

who is currently serving a sentence of 28 years in prison for manslaughter in voluntary remorse.
