Dave Chappelle's scheduled show is on Wednesday evening at Minneapolis First Avenue.

Dave Chappelle Show

First Avenue will no longer be held, and the team at First Avenue apologizes for receiving criticism for scheduling the comedian.

"The Dave Chappelle show tonight at First Avenue has been canceled and will move towards The Varsity Theater," the message from First Avenue's staff read.

"To employees, artists, and our entire community We hear your concerns and are deeply sorry. We are aware that we have to adhere to the highest standard, and we're sure we fell short.

We're not just an unlit box with people inside We understand the importance of First Ave. First Ave is not just an office, but a place that has meaning beyond the walls.

We the First Avenue team and you have put in a lot of effort to ensure that our venues are the most secure spaces in the nation and we'll keep on in that direction.

We believe in diversity and the freedom to express yourself artistically However, in honoring this we have lost sight of the effect this could have on society.

Varsity Theater posted a statement on Twitter informing the public that they will be hosting Chappelle on Wednesdays as well.
