Luke Thallon will portray Professor Quirinus Quirrell, the timid Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.

Janet McTeer will play Professor Minerva McGonagall, the stern yet caring Transfiguration teacher.

Casting for the iconic trio—Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley—has not yet been revealed.

HBO held an open casting call for the trio’s roles, receiving more than 30,000 submissions from hopefuls.

The first season may premiere as early as next year, bringing a new generation into the magical world of Hogwarts.
