Manchester United have signed Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on loan The club announced the news on Thursday.

United will offer Newcastle the loan amount of PS2 million and have the option of making the loan permanent at the conclusion of the current season.

There is a requirement to make the deal permanent at PS6m in the event that Dubravka plays a specific number of Premier League games.

The Slovakia international will take on senior keeper David de Gea and Tom Heaton after Tom Heaton was criticized for his role in the United's defeat of 4-0 against Brentford in the month of March.

"To be joining Manchester United is a special moment in my career and I can't wait to get started and help the group achieve its ambitions," Dubravka stated

"I am part of an amazing group of goalkeepers that have a lot of experience working in the Premier League, and I believe that we will work hard and help each other maintain

our standards at the highest level. The opportunity to work alongside David de Gea, alongside Tom Heaton, is one that I am looking forward to.

"I'd like to sincerely thank everyone at Newcastle United, and especially the fans, for many great experiences over the past four and a half years.

I enjoyed every minute of my time there and made amazing memories to look back on. My focus is now on helping Manchester United,

and we'll see what the future holds after I have given my all this season. I am excited to be here!"

De Gea allowed Josh Dasilva's attempt from a distance to slip through his arms for Brentford's opener goal,

while his mistaken passing on Christian Eriksen in his own area led to Mathias Jensen's goal.
