Nicki Minaj took the stage at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards to accept the Vanguard Award. Minaj thanked many of the people who have had an impact on her career

and referred to the likes of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. Minaj demanded more mental health awareness in the acceptance address.

"I took this note I'm not sure why you're asking, but it was in my mind to say. I wish I could say that Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson were present," 

Minaj said at the Prudential Center. "I hope that people would understand the meaning behind what they said and what they had been through.

I wish that people would take mental health seriously, even for those who have perfect lives. I would like Pop Smoke and Juice WRLD and Nipsey Hussle to be around.

Minaj has performed some of her greatest hits on stage, including "Roman's Revenge," Bees in the Trap," Chun-Li," "Moment 4 Life," Super Bass" and "Anaconda."

Minaj later added: "To all the artists and producers who have participated in any of my projects, and to all those who permit me to showcase their projects ...

And I want to assure you that I value each one of you. I do not take this for to be taken for granted. I am grateful to you all for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent."

The pop star also offered an exclusive moment to her fans called the Barbz before calling her son, whom she refers to as Papa Bear.
