Who doesn’t love a good movie adaptation of a beloved book? Ready or not, another Colleen Hoover romance is hitting the big screen once again. After the 2024 drama from the It Ends With Us set made headlines, Regretting You features a star-studded cast and brings to life the dramatic story of an affair revealed posthumously and how a family comes to terms with it.

The book and film adaptation of Regretting You follow 35-year-old Morgan and her teenage daughter, Clara. Morgan had Clara when she was 17 and married her high school boyfriend, Chris, Clara’s father. Sixteen years later, Morgan remains a dedicated wife and mother — until Chris dies in a car accident that also kills Morgan’s sister, Jenny. The tragedy reveals the affair that Chris and Jenny were having.

The story explores Morgan’s grief and her struggle to parent Clara during her coming-of-age years, as Clara falls for the local bad boy, Miller.

At the end of the book, Morgan and Clara reconcile after clashing over Clara’s relationship with Miller and Morgan’s hesitation to tell her about her late father’s affair with Jenny. Morgan eventually accepts Clara’s romance with Miller, and she and Jonah, Jenny’s widower, get together. In turn, Clara supports her mother’s new relationship with Jonah after learning the truth about her father.

Since Regretting You has yet to hit theaters, we’re not dishing any spoilers yet. But as book lovers know, film adaptations tend to slightly stray from the original story.

Romance fans can see Regretting You on the big screen in theaters on October 24, 2025. The film has not been released to a streaming service yet, but it’s likely that once it does, the Paramount Pictures film will stream on Paramount+.
