Kate Hudson may have been born into Hollywood royalty, but she has carved out a star career entirely her own. The actress — the daughter of Goldie Hawn and musician Bill Hudson — was born on April 19, 1979, in Los Angeles. After her parents divorced when she was an infant, Kate was raised by her mother and her longtime partner, Kurt Russell, whom she has frequently said she considers her true father.
Hudson made her film debut in the 1998 dramedy Desert Blue, but her breakout role came in 2000 as free-spirited “band aid” Penny Lane in Almost Famous, earning her an Academy Award nomination. Throughout the 2000s, her star continued to rise as she became a rom-com staple, starring in fan favorites like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, You, Me and Dupree, and Fool’s Gold.
In recent years, Kate has expanded her creative reach beyond film. In 2013, she co-founded the athleisure brand Fabletics, which has since grown into a major global lifestyle company. She also stepped into music, releasing her debut album Glorious in 2024 and performing live shows that showcased a new side of her artistry.
On screen, Hudson continues to evolve with leading roles in film and television, including her recent Netflix comedy projects that reintroduced her to audiences in a fresh, modern light. Off screen, she shares a blended family with fiancé Danny Fujikawa and is a proud mother of three.
