The werewolf is back. More than a decade after he first loped into the Russo family’s world, Gregg Sulkin has returned to Disney’s wizarding universe, reprising his old role of Mason Greyback for the final chapter of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. For anyone who grew up on the original Wizards of Waverly Place, seeing him back opposite Selena Gomez lands like a proper full-circle moment. So, who is Gregg Sulkin, beyond the purebred werewolf who won over Alex Russo?
Here are five things to know about the British actor.
Sulkin guest stars in the four-part finale event that brings the sequel series to a close, reuniting with Gomez as she makes her directorial debut on the show, helming the opening episode. His Mason is one of several original characters woven back into the story. Slipping into the role again came instantly. “It took three seconds,” he told Deadline of returning to Mason. “All I had to do was look at Selena.”
Long before Disney Channel, Sulkin was a young actor in London. He made his television debut in the 2002 miniseries Doctor Zhivago and his film debut in the 2006 comedy Sixty Six, then found early fame on the British series As the Bell Rings before his Hollywood breakthrough arrived with Wizards of Waverly Place.
His resume stretches far past the Disney lot. Sulkin played Liam Booker on MTV’s Faking It, turned up in the third season of Pretty Little Liars, and starred as Chase Stein in Marvel’s Runaways on Hulu from 2017 to 2019. In 2021, he headlined the Netflix sitcom Pretty Smart.
Sulkin is 34 years old. He was born on May 29, 1992, in London, England.
