HBO has not announced an official release date or premiere window for the Crazy Rich Asians TV series. Production is scheduled to begin in 2027, meaning that year marks the planned start of filming rather than a confirmed release date. Filming locations have also yet to be revealed.

The series received its official green light on October 8, 2026, following years of anticipation for a follow-up to the movie. Director Jon M. Chu celebrated the reunion in HBO’s announcement, saying, “bringing everyone back together feels like coming home.”

Constance will return as Rachel Chu, the American economics professor whose trip to Singapore introduced her to boyfriend Nick Young’s extraordinarily wealthy family. Henry will reprise his role as Nick, while Ronny returns as his cousin, Eddie Cheng. All three actors are confirmed as series regulars.

Michelle will also return as Nick’s mother, Eleanor Young, in a recurring role. Further casting announcements have not been announced.

The eight-episode drama will continue after the events of the 2018 film, which ended with Rachel and Nick getting engaged. It will draw from Kevin’s bestselling books, although specific storylines have not been announced. The original novel’s sequels, China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems, expand the family’s story, but the announcement does not specify exactly how those books will be adapted.
