British YouTuber and filmmaker Kane Parsons is bringing Backrooms to life in the form of an A24 and Blumhouse horror movie. Starring several esteemed actors, the upcoming found-footage film is expected to reach the big screen this spring.
The concept for Backrooms stems from a 2019 4chan post, in which a user asked others to share images that felt “disquieting” to them. In response, one user shared a photo of a yellow-tinged room, which Backrooms sets the stage with.
“If you’re not careful and you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you’ll end up in the Backrooms, where it’s nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in,” the 4chan user wrote about the image at the time. “God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you.”
News47.us has the latest details on A24’s upcoming movie, Backrooms, here.
Backrooms follows a therapist who “ventures into an otherworldly dimension in search of her missing patient,” per the film’s logline.
A24 will release Backrooms on May 29, 2026.
Backrooms is scheduled to be released in theaters this spring.
