Malia Obama was born on July 4, 1998, in Chicago, Illinois, to former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. She was thrust into the spotlight as a young girl, with her father becoming President of the United States in 2009, when she was just 11 years old. She completed her high school education at the prestigious Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., along with her younger sister Sasha.
Malia attended Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., before enrolling at Harvard University, where she graduated in 2021. After college, she pursued a career in entertainment, working as a writer on Donald Glover‘s series Swarm. She later made her directorial debut with the short film The Heart, which premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival under the name Malia Ann.
