Sasha Obama has spent much of her life in the public eye as the younger daughter of former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. Born on June 10, 2001, Sasha was just 7 years old when her father was elected president in 2008, and Americans watched her grow up during the family’s eight years in the White House alongside her older sister, Malia.
Throughout Barack Obama’s presidency, Sasha frequently appeared at official events, holiday celebrations and family outings, becoming one of the most recognizable First Children in modern history. After graduating from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., she attended the University of Michigan before transferring to the University of Southern California.
Since leaving Washington in 2017, Sasha has largely kept a low profile while occasionally making headlines through public appearances with her family. Most recently, she joined her parents and sister at the opening of the Obama Presidential Center.
