Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was brought to a sudden halt in March 2026 following a domestic violence incident involving cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen. News of the situation broke on March 16, 2026, raising questions about the couple—who share a young son, Ever—and the future of filming.
As more details about the case continue to emerge, fans have been closely following updates surrounding the allegations and the status of production. Here’s a breakdown of everything to know so far, including what’s been reported and when filming could resume.
According to a spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department, Paul and Mortensen have an open “domestic assault investigation.”
The spokesperson additionally confirmed that “allegations have been made in both directions” and that “contact was made with involved parties on [Feb] 24th and 25th.” According to multiple outlets, the spokesperson declined to share more details amid the ongoing investigation.
Paul broke her silence on the situation in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, admitting she’s “had better days.”
“I actually took action about a few weeks ago,” Paul told the publication. “I’m just doing third-party everything — pick-up, drop-offs, communication — so no contact right now for me. I think that’s the best case, honestly, because clearly it’s just not to a point of us getting along, so I wanted to take the best action I could.”
Paul noted that her goal was to “not make it a big deal … I didn’t want to bring anything to the public eye, making it a bigger deal for the sake of my son, and just everything about to come out. But that wasn’t the plan for him.”
