MO3 (real name: Melvin Abdul Noble Jr) was just 28 years old when he was murdered in November 2020. Now, nearly five years later, fellow rapper Yella Beezy has been charged with capital murder for his alleged involvement with MO3’s death. As fans of the late hip-hop artist learn more about his death, we’re explaining everything that happened below.
MO3 was from Dallas, Texas, and built his success in the hip-hop scene. He was famous for his collaboration with Boosie Badazz on “Errybody” in addition to his posthumous album, Shottaz 4Eva, which reached No. 36 on the U.S. Billboard 200 in 2021.
While driving down Interstate 35 in Dallas in November 2020, MO3 was aggressively pursued by another car in broad daylight, leading the “Outside” artist to stop in the middle of the highway. Upon stopping his car, a man named Kewon Dontrell White approached MO3, who tried to escape by running. White chased down MO3 and fired multiple shots at him with a rifle. White left the scene, and MO3 was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.
White and another man named Devin Maurice Brown were both indicted. Brown was accused of helping coordinate the attack on MO3.
In March 2025, Yella Beezy was arrested and charged in Dallas with capital murder for allegedly hiring White to kill MO3.
