Dan Levy is an actor, writer, director and producer, and the son of actor Eugene Levy and screenwriter Deborah Divine. Dan’s entertainment career began as a host of MTV Live on MTV Canada. He later co-hosted The After Show, which covered popular series including The Hills, and continued working with the network before leaving in 2011.
After early acting roles, including an appearance on Degrassi: The Next Generation, Dan joined forces with his father to create Schitt’s Creek. The comedy premiered in 2015, with Dan starring as David Rose alongside Eugene, Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy. The series ran for six seasons before coming to an end in 2020 and became a major awards success. At the 2020 Emmys, Dan won four awards in a single night for acting, writing, directing and producing the series.
Since Schitt’s Creek, Dan has continued expanding his career both in front of and behind the camera. He made his feature directorial debut with 2024’s Good Grief, which he also wrote, produced and starred in, and co-hosted the 2024 Emmy Awards with his father. In 2026, he returned to television with the Netflix comedy thriller Big Mistakes, which he co-created, executive produces and stars in. The series premiered in April 2026 and has since been renewed for a second season.
